Keep your handmade Pumpkin Cat Pom Pom Ornament looking its best with simple care tips for fluff maintenance, spot cleaning, and safe storage.
Quick answer
Gently fluff the pom pom with your fingers to restore shape, spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, and store flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Why handmade ornaments need special care
Your Pumpkin Cat Pom Pom Ornament is handmade in the USA, so each one has unique characteristics. The pom pom fibers can flatten or collect dust over time, especially if displayed year-round. Gentle handling keeps the fluff looking fresh without damaging the construction.
When to clean versus replace
For light dust or a small smudge, spot cleaning works fine. If the ornament gets soaked or the pom pom mattes badly, replacement may be the safer option—water can loosen the glue or distort the shape. The ornament is not machine washable.
Diagnosis and care steps
- Symptom: Flattened or matted pom pom: Gently separate and fluff the fibers using your fingertips. Work from the outer edges inward to avoid pulling out strands. Do not use a brush or comb—it can snag the fibers.
- Symptom: Light dust or surface dirt: Wipe with a dry, soft cloth. If needed, lightly dampen a cloth with cool water and a drop of mild soap, then blot the area. Do not rub. Let the ornament air-dry completely before hanging or storing.
- Symptom: Stubborn stain or water damage: If spot cleaning does not remove the mark or the pom pom stays wet inside, stop cleaning. The ornament is not designed for deep washing. Consider replacing the ornament rather than risking structural damage.
